Humans have been making summer music for at least five thousand years. Before recorded sound, before notation, before the word "festival" meant anything you could buy a ticket to, people gathered on the longest day of the year to face the sun and refuse to let it set without a fight. They built stone calendars to catch the sunrise. They lit fires on hilltops. They danced until dawn.
That is the oldest dance music on Earth. We just dropped it.
Summer Found is a two-track EP that takes the deepest summer source material in the catalog (a 5,000-year-old solstice rite and the oldest known song in the English language) and renders it at festival main-stage scale. Two tracks, one thesis, approached from opposite directions: one looks back across the whole human record, the other zooms in on a single 13th-century round and turns it into a drop.
The season is the occasion, not the joke.
"Longest Day" is a solstice rite built into a big-room anthem. Stonehenge to Reykjavík to the Andes, every language knows the light. Stone circles aligned to the sunrise, flower crowns, fire circles, bonfires through the shortest night. The production keeps the ritual real: a ritual frame drum and stomp locked under a festival kick, processed hammered dulcimer and cittern as chopped stereo accents, a Dorian melodic phrase that feels ancient riding a distorted supersaw drop. Five thousand years of dancing for the sun. Same fire, bigger speakers.
"Sumer Is Icumen In" flips the oldest known song in English (a Middle English round from around 1260 CE, "loudly sing cuckoo") into future house. The medieval text is kept intact and clear. Real medieval instruments (hammered dulcimer, cittern, frame drum) carry the color as texture, never lead, and the final drop stacks staggered female vocals into a round-canon with cathedral reverb tails so the rota becomes the drop. The oldest song in English is from the 1200s. We dropped it.
Snacks Not Found honors the season. It does not parody it. Parody belongs to Wrong Aisle. This is the summer rite played at full power, the way it was always meant to sound.
